This book was simple and easy to understand. It also made some good points. However, I felt it was poorly written, not very well detailed, and there were some sarchasm that I felt detracted from the content and took away some of the seriousness of the subject. There are better books on the subject, but for a starter, this is okay.
The Rainbow Kingdom is an excellent entry level book that covers much of the latest biblical studies on the real interpretation of the scriptures on the topic.
The book takes us beyond the few, short easy to quote seemingly anti homosexual references in the New and Old Testament. The author gives a clear explanation of these sections of the Bible in a manner that a reader of limited experience will quickly question some often quoted interpretations.
This book should lead concerned Christians to get to know the Bible in a manner that looks beyond a 20th century intreperation of scripture that does not take into account the language, history situation and translation problems in the bible today.
Having studied the biblical passages that are used to condemn LGBT Christians, I can tell you that this is a compelling and well-written book. David's scholarship is worth of recognition. Since the turn of the millenium many books are being published like this to shed more light on the context of the Scriptures. Thanks, David, for adding to the library of LGBT Christian scholarship!

Rainbow Kingdom is a reconciliation of faith and sexuality, born of Shelton's personal quest for answers. He challenges the habitual "clobbering verses" and often-misinterpreted Old Testament passages and stories, and routs them with spiritual astuteness. Further, he guides and ministers to the reader with words of immeasurable wisdom, and with unquestionable affirmation of Christ.
Shelton's writing style is very down-to-earth. The book reads like a flowing dialog over a good cup of coffee with a dear friend. Many authors utilize cumbersome word structure in an attempt to "prove" knowledge; Shelton's own approach reveals his intellect whilst allowing his sincere love for people to shine through. This book is a "must have" for your Christian reference collection.
